FSG - School Leaders Information

ACEL Victoria Fellows Support Group

This program is designed to provide eligible member schools with access to independent,

experienced and reliable support which is non-obligatory.

Operating Principles:

The ACEL Fellows Support Group will consider applications from all member schools.

Member schools in need will be prioritised (see pro forma below for further information).

Essential to the ACEL Fellows Support Group program is a strong sense of trust so that the

Principal could be open about any issue raised. Confidentiality is clearly understood as a

working principle.

How the ACEL Victoria Fellows Support Group works:

Initial contact by school leaders is made online at the ACEL Victoria website: http://

www.acelvic.org.au/

The request will be forwarded to a Fellows Support Group team leader for the acceptance or

rejection of the proposal. If rejected, the request will be passed onto other team leaders for

consideration.

The team leader may invite appropriate ACEL Fellows to assist. That team leader will

contact the school to arrange the date and time of the visit.

The team will present at the school, hold discussions as required, meet with staff, write the

report and present it. A written copy will be made available, usually within one week.

The team leader will then collect their travelling allowance from the school (see below).

A mechanism for feedback on the process and usefulness of the team’s report will be made

available to the school.

An opportunity may be provided for a follow up visit by the team leader or their delegate

(usual team fees apply).

Fees and travelling expenses:

The school agrees to pay the expenses of the Fellows Support Group team, as set out below.

For metropolitan schools, the school will pay travel expenses of $20 per team member,

including GST, directly to the team leader on the day of the visit.

The school will provide lunch and refreshments (day visit).

OR

For country schools, the school will pay travel expenses of $20 per hour of total travel time

(to the school and return), including GST, directly to the team leader on the day of the visit.

The school will provide lunch and refreshments (and dinner & breakfast for schools requiring

an overnight visit).

For country schools, the school will organise, provide and/or pay for accommodation

overnight if required.

Further support:

Should the school wish to have further services supplied by a panel member then that is to be

discussed with the team leader and the relevant member and any further work will be by private

contract. The work of the panel cannot provide ongoing, detailed support which would be the work

of full-time professionals.

The views expressed or suggestions provided by the Fellows Support Group are not necessarily

those of ACEL. Principals are responsible for considering and meeting the requirements of, and

compliance with, their governing educational body.

In submitting this request, the principal acknowledges they agree to the terms and conditions of an ACEL Victoria Fellows Support Group visit, as set out on the ACEL Victoria Website.
